In September, the Women in Science and Entrepreneurship (WISE) hosted a networking breakfast which drew more than 60 entrepreneurs and scientists from the region.  It provided a unique opportunity for women in the scientific and entrepreneurial community to learn, share and network. The event was hosted by BioKansas, Missouri Cures and Missouri Biotechnology Association.

Moderated by Annette Weeks, Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship; panelists included Jenny Filbey, CEO of Mazen Animal Health; Abby Johnson, PTC Site Director of Nestle Purina North America; and Lisa Norton, President of BioZyme Inc. The expert panelists shared advice and stories about their divergent paths to success, the need to have mentors and the ongoing desire to continue to grow and learn.

Lisa Norton, president of Biozyme Inc, said, “It is important to have lifelong learning.  Continue to go to meetings and events where you are learning new things.” This year’s event was sponsored by Innovation Stockyard and the St Joseph Chamber.
