In November 2019, when Mark Modlin and his partners were college students at Missouri Western, they came up with the concept of creating a delicious, healthy and high-protein product that didn’t exist. Over the following eight months, with more than 3,000 trials, they formed Rare Nutrition – a company built for athletes and fitness-focused individuals.

They have been able to form a team of motivated people working to create something that can make a difference. Utilizing nutritionists, sports dietitians, and a multitude of college and professional athletes, they have created donuts, brownies, pancakes and muffins that all taste great and have better nutrition facts than nearly any other product on sale today.

And they were able to do it all in the midst of a global pandemic. “With every challenge,” said Modlin, “comes opportunity. So while the nation shut down, we got busy refining our products and building our team.” Using virtual meetings and product sample shipments, they were able to begin introducing their products to athletes and athletic programs. Despite the limitations surrounding the pandemic, they have been able to network with both college and professional programs.

Rare Nutrition is currently in pre-production, though they intend to reach a fully operational state by late November 2020.
