The Center for Entrepreneurship invited Mr. Todd Joe, Chairman of the St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce’s Diplomats Club to be a “Professor for a Day” in Dr. Nitin Singh’s Entrepreneurship class at Missouri Western. Joe discussed the entrepreneurial ecosystem in St. Joseph, and the role the Chamber of Commerce serves in supporting local entrepreneurs.
As part of the course requirements, students in the entrepreneurship class develop a business idea to be located in downtown St. Joseph, conduct feasibility analysis of this idea, and create a business plan to execute this idea. Information about the local ecosystem provides students in the entrepreneurship class with the tools they need for this project.
“Most entrepreneurs prefer to open businesses in their local town. Since most Missouri Western students are from the surrounding areas, it’s my hope that this project may motivate them to pursue entrepreneurship and lead to a positive impact on the local economy,” said Dr. Nitin Singh, assistant professor of entrepreneurship at Missouri Western.
