The “Franchise Program” was recently renamed and launched as the Center for Franchise Development at a ribbon cutting and grand opening celebration with the Chamber.  Representatives from Auntie Anne’s pretzels franchise came to campus for the event including president, Heather Neary.  This change aligns well with our goals of building relationships with additional franchisers and assisting our graduates in their entrepreneurial journey.

Fifteen students are enrolled in the Applied Business Ownership class.  For the first time, they are studying an Auntie Anne’s franchise preparing a business plan and presentation.  Students interested in competing will present their plans to a panel of judges with the desire to be awarded a franchise and join over 20 owners in the program.

The students have had the opportunity to learn from dynamic alumni including Brent Porlier, Wayne Chatham and Seth Lyons and local entrepreneurs Dave Shinneman and Don Tolly.  The group has also been hands-on in the local Auntie Anne’s in East Hills Shopping Center.  A host of previous winners of franchises have participated in the classroom and in-store sessions.  Guest speakers with a specific focus such as legal and human resources along with faculty round out the curriculum.
